PETROSYAN BACK WITH A WIN - FOR NOW

FIGHTING for the first time since breaking his right hand on the way to winning the 2009 K-1 World Max
title, Giorgio Petrosyan outpointed Khem Sitsonpeenong in the main event at It’s Showtime in Milan.
The Armenian-Italian
has since announced he will not be facing Yoshihiro Sato at the March 27 Max season opener in Japan.
Petrosyan,
pictured above left, has instead opted to undergo further hand surgery to make sure he is ready for his bout against Nieky
Holzken on his management team It’s Showtime’s May 29 Amsterdam kickboxing bill.
Petrosyan's
brother Armen made it a winning family double by outscoring former Contender Asia contestant Dzhabar Askerov on the undercard.
Brazilian Cosmo Alexandre claimed the It's Showtime 77kilogram world title in the chief supporting match
when defending champion Dimitriy Shakuta was deemed unable to continue due to a badly cut forehead caused by a left knee from
the clinch.
French heavyweight Brice Guidon caused another minor upset as he beat Hesdy Gerges by close extra round
decision, a late sweep sealing victory in the dying seconds.
Gerges posted an unpopular points victory over Ashwin
Balrak a fortnight previous and this latest result provided a further setback in the build-up to his May collision
with current K-1 number two Badr Hari.
Guidon also sprang a surprise in his last bout for It’s
Showtime in November when he outpointed Mourad Bouzidi in Barneveld, Holland.
Thai stylist Sudsakorn Sor Klinmee
used his height, reach and superlative timing to outpoint Chahid Oulad el Hadj 4-1, taking the first two rounds and weathering
a late fightback from the chunky Moroccan-Dutchman.
The defeat was the always-sprited El Hadj’s fourth in
a row.
Sudsakorn’s excellent southpaw countryman Orono Wor Petchpun - the It's Showtime 65kg world champion
- defeated Egon Racz by doctor’s stoppage elsewhere on the bill.
Other results: Fabio di Marco vs Lulian
