FIGHTNEWZ.NET: Paul, you predicted your bout would be the best contest of the night and it went exactly
as you planned. UFC debuts don't get any better than that!
KELLY: I’m over the moon, like a pig in shit, I couldn’t be happier. It lived up to expectations,
I said I was going to go in there and let it all hang out and I did. I wasn't going to take a backward step and I knew Paul
was game to stand and bang. The big deciding factor for me was his fitness and his legs and I did well with both I think.
I hung with him with the fitness and I checked his legs. We watched his fights and worked on his gameplan a lot, so everything
went according to plan.
FIGHTNEWZ.NET: It was a performance that showed you're the real deal.
KELLY: I hope it sends out a statement that I mean business. I’m not calling anyone out, I’m
just here to fight and I’m happy. A performance like that has done me the world of good and I just hope they keep on
bringing me back, giving me good fights and giving me the Fight of the Night and the bonus that comes with it! But I’m
not just in it for the money, I love this sport. The UFC is the Premier League and it's where everyone wants to be.
FIGHTNEWZ.NET: We can expect more exciting fights from you in future then?
Wanderlei Silva has always been an idol of mine. He goes out and lets it
all hang out and that is my
plan for the sport. Like (UFC president) Dana White said in the post-event press conference, it’s your legacy that counts
and with a bit of luck a couple of fights down the line I can say the same.
What you saw from me at UFC 80 in Newcastle is what you will see from me always. I will train
just as hard or harder for my next fight as I did for this one and I will be better and fitter and more determined.
